Install the app

OpenCode Superapp contains its compatible OpenCode runtime, so no separate OpenCode installation or background service is required.

The current stable download is the signed and notarized Apple-silicon Mac release. Windows and Linux packages appear on the download page only after both portable release candidates pass their native release gates.

  • Confirm the computer meets the system requirements.
  • Keep your provider credentials available if you are not already connected through OpenCode.
  1. Visit the OpenCode Superapp download page.
  2. Download the package currently offered for your operating system.
  3. On macOS, open the DMG and drag the app into Applications. When portable packages are released, Windows uses a per-user NSIS installer and Ubuntu provides both .deb and AppImage packages.
  4. Open the app from Applications, Start, or the Linux application menu, as applicable.
  5. Choose a local project folder when prompted.

The native host starts one authenticated OpenCode runtime on your computer and shares it across every project and session in the app. It stops when the app exits.

The operating system asks for permissions only when a feature needs them. Core chat and project workflows do not require Computer Use or microphone permission. macOS users can review macOS permissions before enabling optional capabilities; Windows and Linux show equivalent native recovery instructions in the app.
